2003年2月5日 · My gut feel is that the costs will be similar. The W40 will be heavier, but the truss will have more fabrication costs. Means 2001 Estimating Guides lists a W36 x 300 (their largest beam listed) as $200/ft. The W40 would probably cost the same. They didn't have any information on trusses. A couple of additional costs to consider.

Material price alone is higher, but once you account for labour and schedule it's not even a contest. A good framing crew can put the roof, including sheathing, on a truss framed garage in about 3 hours. A raftered system takes significantly longer.

Maybe you could rest the truss on the bottom flange which is reinforced with a gusset plate attached to the web and flange of the beam.
