I remember many years ago getting a old hand me down trapper nelson packboard,and pack,and it was very comfortable,well made,and would haul a heck of a load.

2015年8月14日 · Lots of Trapper Nelson Packs on E-Bay if you want to look. I read a book about the Alaskan Scouts in WWll (Castner's Cuthroats) and they used Trapper Nelson Packs. A good book by the way. I thought the packs were intriguing so I did some research on them. Invented by a guy named Nelson in 1924 and used by Alaskans, north woodsmen etc.

Whoever had it before replaced the straps with modern ones and added a waist belt, I was going to nix the waist belt and replace the modern straps with canvas like original, but sadly have no time, so it's been sitting. The frame and cover appear to be in really good shape, ditto on the pack.

2017年7月6日 · My first thought if you want to make something is a trapper nelson pack frame. Do a search and you'll find a few rough dimensions and plans to work off of. What about an old thrift store external frame backpack. Strip the bag off and lash the pig to the bare frame? I think the Roycroft is for lighter loads than pack frame weights.
