2010年8月18日 · This is a very subjective matter. Owning both M117 (predecessor) and M119 engines, I will say that the M119 is superior in just about every way to the M117. However, it is also more complex. By superior, I mean that it is generally more reliable, smoother, more efficient, and generates higher output. I have never owned the successor M113 engine.

2014年2月17日 · Given that the M119 and M104 engines utilise a fuel rail setup (a straight tube for the M104; a "U"-shaped tube for the M119), Mercedes-Benz makes it very easy for the DIY mechanic to check fuel pressure. Mercedes-Benz employed a common Schrader-type valve (similar to a US bicycle tire valve, or any car tire valve) that is set into the fuel rail.

The power steering pump/reservoir was improved on the later M119 but the leaky rear main seal was just as bad as the M113. I see numerous high mileage M112/M113 cars that run great but the higher mileage M119 cars need more than people are likely to spend.

2016年4月8日 · (The only people I know of who has changed the m119 valve stem oil seals on this board are me & Eno FWIW) Seeing the state of these I know it was very much worthwhile to replace them. These are not making an effective oil seal on the stem. Indeed the valve stem was not even touching the rock hard seal anymore. Did it burn oil?
