My current username uses my deadname so I really want to change it. This is on PC, I do not have a PlayStation. Edit: Seems the new patch has fixed this.

Steam ID (it should start with 765 and is about 15 digits long) is the same. Display name (the one that shows up next to your profile picture) can be changed 5 times every 15-30 minutes. I hope this answers OP's question.

I believe adding friends is handled via Friend Codes and generated URLs, rather than your login username, and when people see you online, they see whatever Player Name you have typed in your profile. 2015年7月4日 · Not that I know of, the Steam Command Protocol doesn't allow for display name changes so it's unlikely you can do it. I wish they allowed the protocol to change your name though, then this would be possible and my scripts could do some funky stuff!

2017年7月5日 · you changed your name multiple times today, even before this post. you cannot change your name as often and as fast as you want. if the system thinks you are doing it too much, then you are blocked off for a certain time. It might be a problem with profiles. They're loading weird and friends name changes aren't taking effect
