Chondrodite - Wikipedia
Chondrodite is a nesosilicate mineral with formula (Mg,Fe) 5 (SiO 4) 2 (F,OH,O) 2. Although it is a fairly rare mineral, it is the most frequently encountered member of the humite group of minerals. It is formed in hydrothermal deposits from locally metamorphosed dolomite. It is also found associated with skarn and serpentinite.

This mineral requires relatively high temperature and pressure conditions to form, which are found in the Mogok Metamorphic Belt. Chondrodite forms during contact metamorphism of magnesium-rich limestones and felsic intrusions.

Chondrodite is not a particularly common mineral and is never seen in abundance. It is found in hydrothermal deposits and contact and regionally metamorphosed dolomitic limestones, most notably skarn deposits and in some serpentinite rocks.
Optical Properties: Transparent to translucent. Color: Light yellow, yellow, brown, red; in thin section, pale yellow or brown to colorless. Luster: Vitreous to resinous. Optical Class: Biaxial (+). Pleochroism: X = colorless, very pale yellow, brownish yellow; Y = colorless, yellow-green; Z = colorless, pale green.
